Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent





Saturday night, an unapproved gathering of a large crowd at the Howe Park area in the Arden-Arcade section of Sacramento turned violent when an estimated 20 to 25 gunshots rang out as Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies were working to clearing the crowd.

What Happened

Shortly after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office got reports regarding subjects possibly armed with concealed weapons at Howe Park. A follow-up call advised of a potential fight and individuals fleeing the scene.

An airship was dispatched and swept the area but was unable to locate any ongoing altercation.

Despite this, an estimated several hundred attendees had gathered at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unauthorized gathering. Law enforcement personnel set up around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and used roughly 15 minutes announcing over loudspeakers for people to leave via loudspeaker announcements.

As deputies were in the process of dispersing attendees, upwards of 20 gunshots echoed through the area — causing hundreds to flee in all directions at once.

Shooting Victims

Four people — one woman and three male victims, all believed to be here in their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals.
